I live in a listed property - can I install double glazing?

If your property is listed it does not mean that you cannot make changes however we advise that you contact your Local Authority to apply for the listed building consent. You must contact them before making any changes. Your Local Authority will determine what can be changed without damaging the historical significance of your property. In some cases double glazing is allowed in listed buildings.

I live in a noisy area, what can I do with my windows?

We offer a few solutions to minimise the noise you can hear through your windows and doors. One of them is installing triple glazing or using acoustic double glazed units.

How long does it take to get my windows and doors installed?

Once we complete the survey on your property and agree any necessary changes, you should expect your new windows and doors to be fitted within 8 weeks. Our staff will be in touch with you with regular updates on the progress we make in the factory.

I would like to see some of your windows but I’m unable to leave my house.

2020 and 2021 have taught us a lot and as a respond to COVID-19 pandemic we follow all safety guidelines to be able to serve our customers in the safety and comfort of their own homes.

What are your payment terms?

We require a 25% deposit to secure your order, followed by another 25% after the site survey and approval of CAD drawings. The remaining 50% is due one week before the installation date.

How do I prepare my home for window and door installation?

To ensure a smooth installation process, we recommend removing any furniture, curtains, and blinds near the windows and doors. If possible, clear a path for our installers to work comfortably. We’ll take care to protect your home, but it’s always a good idea to move any delicate or valuable items out of the way. If in doubt, please speak with your installers when they arrive and they can assist you with any items.

What should I expect during the installation process?

We are very proud of our installation team who will work to a very high standard. The team will begin with protecting your home with dust sheets. They will then carefully remove the existing windows or doors and install your new products ensuring they are sealed and finished correctly. Once the installation is complete they will conduct a thorough clean up and run through the features and operation of your new windows and doors with you.

How do I maintain my windows and doors to ensure longevity?

For longevity, regular maintenance is key. This involves cleaning the glass and frames, lubricating moving parts and regular checks on seals for wear and tear. Timber windows and doors will need periodic painting to keep them looking fresh and protect the wood from the elements. If well maintained our windows will last a lifetime.

Can I install the windows and doors myself, or do I need a professional?

Whether it's our installers or not we highly recommend that you use an experienced professional installer to fit your windows.

What kind of aftercare services do you provide?

We offer a 5 year guarantee on all parts and labour. We aim to quickly respond to any claims and are dedicated to ensuring that you are happy with your product for years to come. Our team is always available to help and provide support throughout the life of your window and doors.

I would like to buy timber windows but I’m worried about the maintenance.

This is the question we often hear from our customers and it has a lot to do with the misconception that timber products require high maintenance. All our products are manufactured using specially treated timber and painted with micro-porous water-based paints to stand the test of time.

Do my windows have to be a single colour? The interior of my house is grey, but I would like them to be white on the outside.

Our windows and doors are available in a vast variety of colours and stains. We also offer dual colour so there is no limit to your colour choice.

What kind of wood do you use for your timber windows?

We use only the highest quality, sustainably sourced timber. By far the most common timber we use is a Meranti hardwood. However we do have options for Pine, finger jointed pine, Sapele, Larch, Oak and Accoya. Please see our Premium timber selection page for a more in-depth look at each type of timber.

How often do timber windows need repainting or refinishing?

Depending on exposure to the elements and location, our timber windows generally need repainting or refinishing every 5-10 years. Regular maintenance will extend the life of the finish and protect the wood from weathering.

Can timber windows be installed with triple glazing?

It can, however for us it is quite rare. We now have Vacuum glass which looks like single glazing but has properties better than triple glazing. We find this is a far better option than triple glazing. We welcome you to come to our showroom and take a closer look at our Vacuum glass.

Are timber windows secure against break-ins?

Absolutely. Our timber windows and doors have extremely robust locking systems. If you are particularly worried about break-ins then we can also do things like upgrade your glass to laminate for extra security.

Are timber windows eco-friendly?

What is ‘engineered’ or ‘multi-layer’ timber?

Absolutely. All our windows and doors are made from Engineered/Multi layered timber.
Engineered or multi-layer timber is made by bonding multiple layers of wood together to create a stronger, more durable product. This process reduces the likelihood of warping or splitting, making it an excellent choice for windows and doors that need to withstand various weather conditions.

How much do timber windows cost?

What is the maximum size for timber windows?

Although we do provide a free home visit we are also happy to take emailed enquiries with your own sizes. For quotations the sizes only need to be rough. A measurement from wall to wall will be good enough to get a good indication of prices. We also welcome photos inside and out to help us give you a more accurate quotation.

What colour options are available for timber doors?

We offer a vast array of colours making it simpler than ever to tailor your timber windows to complement any style of home. We also offer a colour matching service if you need something specific matched.

How secure are timber doors compared to composite or uPVC?

Absolutely! All our doors exceed all modern Security standards while keeping all the look and feel of a traditional timber door.

Can I install timber French doors with dual colours?

Yes, you can customise your door with different colours on the inside and outside, and even choose a different frame colour from the door if desired.

Do timber doors provide good insulation against heat and noise?

Timber is a natural insulator, offering excellent thermal and acoustic properties. Our doors can also be fitted with Vacuum glass for enhanced energy efficiency and noise reduction.

Which door designs and styles are the most popular?

This really does depend on the location of the property but our Hampsted, Birch and Tent doors seem to be the most popular. Please take a look at our style for all our standard door options.

Do the timber door products come with any guarantees?

What are the best windows and doors for energy efficiency?

Our vacuum glass products offer the highest energy efficiency for windows and doors. With vacuum glass, we can achieve a window U-value as low as 0.8 W/m²K, which outperforms even triple glazing.

What makes your windows and doors energy efficient?

How much can I save on energy bills with energy-efficient windows and doors?
